An urban city apartment where living and showroom converge
In the heart of The Hague, we transformed two 1950s apartments into one spacious city apartment with a private patio. The result is not only a refined living environment, but also a dedicated showroom from Meneer Voss. Nearly every element in the city apartment (from concept to product) was developed in close collaboration with our suppliers. This project stands out for its design, craftsmanship, and innovation.
A house as canvas
What were once two mirrored residences have been seamlessly merged into a carefully designed space with a playful layout. Every aspect of the city apartment has been custom-designed to maximize spatial efficiency. One guest bedroom, for instance, serves both as a sleeping area and compact home gym, thanks to the ‘Be My Guest’ wall-to-wall cabinet with a built-in bed by Meneer Voss. The home office, too, can transform into a guest room using this ingenious bed system. It responds to contemporary living requirements.
Smart transformations with a big effect
The apartment also features a patio in the footprint of a former bedroom. A green oasis nestled within the city.
A former shower room was cleverly converted into a compact sauna, optimizing space while adding a layer of luxury.
This residence in The Hague blends modern comfort with authentic architectural details. Classic en-suite doors have been restored and integrated into the modern kitchen. High-performance insulation, solar panels, a heat pump, and underfloor heating ensure the home remains warm and comfortable, entirely without the need for gas. The project demonstrates how 1950s-era buildings can be made future-proof, without compromising their character.
Living with a personal touch
in every detail
Every element is thoughtfully considered and aligned with the overall atmosphere, from bespoke cabinetry and lighting to the custom-made rug in the living room. The kitchen’s luxurious appearance is the result of ceramic finishes paired with walnut veneer cabinetry. These ceramic materials also serve as wall cladding in the bathroom, creating a cohesive look throughout. Natural materials such as leather, wood, and ceramic shape a personal interior with a warm, homely character. This homely atmosphere is further enriched by personal artwork and memories. A notable feature is the rug from the Dutch Horizons collection by MeneerVoss, inspired by a self-taken photograph of the North Sea.
Space through light
From every angle, the thoughtful use of natural light and its impact on spatial experience is evident. The emphasis on daylight and sightlines results in a bright, open ambiance. The patio quite literally forms the heart of the home, channeling even more daylight inward. The result is a serene and modern urban city apartment, located just ten minutes from both the beach and the city center. A place that offers both tranquility and vibrancy.
